Morion (Spanish morrión, French morion) is a European military helmet of the Renaissance with a high crest and brim tightly curved in front and behind.

The name of the helmet, according to the “Dictionary of the Spanish Language” published by the Royal Academy of the Spanish Language, comes from morra – letters. “crown”, “crown”.

The Morion helmet most likely appeared in Spain at the beginning of the 16th century. It was included in the set of armor of foot spearmen in the troops of most European countries, as well as in the “regiments of the new system” of the Russian army of the 17th century. Later it became a component of the armor of the palace guards of European monarchs.
